“The Roper”

Price: $750.

“The RoperPompeian Bronze- by Paul Herzel.  Circa 1925.  Single bookend. Polychrome, bronze-clad.  Measures 8” high x 7-1/4” wide x 3” deep.  Weighs 3-1/3 lbs.  This single bookend or freestanding sculpture does not appear in the old Pompeian Catalog, or in any of the reference books.  It is, however, the same horse and cowboy figure that appears on the flat-back, bas-relief “Roper” bookends. This dramatic, full-figured representation of the old west in brilliant polychrome colors is in outstanding condition for its age.  Original felt on bottom. Inscribed © Paul Herzel.  Only thing missing is a wire lasso which can easily be added.  Extremely rare.
