“Angelus” and “The Gleaners” – Gorham Bronze – Circa 1914

Solid Bronze. Modeled after Jean-Francois Millet’s two famous paintings (shown  above). 5-1/4” high x 5-1/4” wide. Weighs 8 lbs. the pair. Inscribed Gorham Bronze, New York on the back.    Signed on front, J.L.Lambert, 1914.   Gorham started out in Providence, RI in 1831.  After 1875, they began producing bronze art castings, and added a separate bronze division, and which continued until the 1920s.  Beautiful detail.  Extremely rare.
