LaFrance Bronze – “Lion” (for Galvano Bronze) – circa early 1920s.  Bronze clad, 6” high x 8-1/2”long, each weighing over 4-1/2” lbs.  Paper label attached to each bookend on old original felt.  Very good condition consistent with age.  Extremely rare.

Very little is known about LaFrance Bronze, except that it existed in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, PA, in the early 1920s, producing bronze-clad bookends.

The Lion below is one of only two known bookends made by LaFrance.  Their other bookend was similar to a Crusader on Horseback, later made by Marion Bronze.
