“Elk”  – Kathodion Bronze Works Circa 1914.  Bronze Clad.   Measures 7-1/2” high x  4 1/4 " wide, X 3 5/8 " deep.  Weighs 8 lbs. the pair.  Inscribed on back KBW ArtBronz.   Appears in KBW catalog as “Elk, #79…The head of an elk with its strong and beautiful antlers makes an attractive and appropriate book rock for the library table or den.” Beautifully detailed reverse side in low relief. These century old, solidly clad beauties are in excellent condition, no splits, cracks or delamination. Original red felt on bottom of one.   One of the oldest and rarest pairs of bookends made by KBW between 1909 and 1914, using the obscure electro-metallurgical casting process of galvanoplasty.
