Price: $950 / pair |
"Knight in Armor on Horseback" - P.Mori Galvano Bronze, . Circa early 1910s. Bronze Clad with polychrome finish. Measures 7-1/2” high x 7-1/2” long x 3-5/8” deep. Weighs 8 lbs. the pair. Felt has been replaced on bottom. Although not signed, this mounted knight readying for the joust was originally sculpted by Gregory Seymour Allen for Paul Mori and Sons Galvano Bronze. The mold was later passed on to Pompeian Bronze, then sold to Marion Bronze around 1922. They were reproduced as late as the 1960s in different colors and with slight modifications to the base. The bookends shown here in the photos are the oldest example I have ever seen. These century-old bookends show age-related paint wear and a slight faded color variance on base. Otherwise great condition with no cracks or breaks. |
