Price:  $365 / pair

“Elephant Book Rocks”  – Kathodion Bronze Works – Circa early 1910s. Bronze-clad with rich dark patina.  Inscribed © KBW ArtBronz.  Measures 5” high x 6-1/2” long x 3” deep.  Weighs 6 lbs. the pair.    Kathodion Bronze Works, under the direction of Eurgene F. Aucaigne, formerly a partner of the Henry Bonnard Bronze Company,  incorporated in the state of New York in 1909.  They began an aggressive ad campaign for their “Book Rocks” in catalogs as early as 1910.  During their 8- year whirlwind  existence  they employed a stable of sculptors to produce some of the finest bronze-clad bookends that are among the oldest and most collectible today.  These elephants are pictured in old KBW catalog and in several advertisements including a 1914 NY Times ad as Small Elephant #562. They are a rare,  century- old treasure in perfect condition except for the missing felt on bottom of base, which can be easily replaced.
